1,000 mangroves planted in Lingayen for World Environment Day
Some 1,000 mangroves were planted at the coastal area of Lingayen in Pangasinan last weekend as part of residents' observance of World Environment Day.
Provincial environment officials also reminded residents to conserve rice in doing their part for the environment.
"Lutuin lang natin nang hindi maaksaya sa ating mga resources tulad ng bigas. Ngayon napakahirap magpatubo ng bigas," Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office head Wendy Co said in a report on GMA Dagupan.
Provincial authorities also reminded those who avail of unlimited rice at eateries not to waste the rice.
The PENRO also appealed to Pangasinan residents to take part in the National Greening Program.
World Environment Day is the United Nations’ way for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment, and is observed in more than 100 countries.
It is also a "people’s day" for doing something positive for the environment. This year's theme for WED is "Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care." — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
