Nobel laureate Mario Vargas Llosa confirms romance with Pinay socialite Isabel Preysler

Peruvian Nobel Prize-winner Mario Vargas Llosa confirmed his new romance with Filipina socialite Isabel Preysler following his separation with long-time wife Patricia Llosa.

According to Peru Reports, Llosa told a television station that he separated from his wife of 50 years and that he had "no more statements to make about" his private life.

Latin American Herald Tribune earlier reported that Llosa and Preysler were photographed by Spanish gossip magazine ¡Hola! in front of a restaurant in Madrid.

It wrote that the two had just returned from a dinner organized by the Porcelanosa company as guests of the Prince of Wales in London.

Moreover, the pictures supposedly demonstrated that their 20-year "friendship has narrowed and strengthened" since Lloya's divorce and the death of Preysler's husband, former Spanish economic minister Miguel Boyer.

Llosa based the main character of his novel "Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter" on his first wife and aunt Bolivian writer Julia Urquidi. He married his cousin Patricia Llosa in 1964, with whom he fathered political commentator Alvaro Vargas Llosa and two others.

Preysler is the mother of famous singer Enrique Iglesias by her marriage to Spanish singer Julio Iglesias. She was also married to marquis of Griñon Carlos Falco. - Rie Takumi/JJ, GMA News
