Ilongga beauty Angelia Ong is Miss Earth 2015

Proud Ilongga beauty Angelia Gabrena Ong made history when she won the Miss Earth 2015 title for the Philippines. This is the first time in 15 years that a country bagged the title in a row.

The 25-year-old titleholder is also a Marketing Management graduate from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and a reporter for casino gaming news website Calvin Ayre. Among her more adorable achievements, aside from winning the pageant, is experiencing her first snow in Vienna, Austria.

Ong started out in Bb. Pilipinas in 2011, during which she bagged a special award (Face of Bb. Pilipinas 2011), but was unplaced. Undeterred by the loss, Ong tried her luck in the Miss Philippines Earth 2015  pageant and took home the crown after impressing the judges with her progressive view on same sex marriage. She left no room for doubt during the Question and Answer portion, saying, “If you feel that that is love, then so be it.”

She once again displayed a graceful combination of beauty and brains in Miss Earth 2015 when she suggested a confident slogan for the pageant, “We will, because we can.”

Ong is the third Filipina to win the Miss Earth title, following Karla Henry (Miss Earth 2008) and Jamie Herrell (Miss Earth 2014). —AT, GMA News
