Pay with a poem on ‘World Poetry Day’

Kamuning Bakery Cafe joins coffee shops around the globe in celebrating World Poetry Day on Monday, March 21 in the most giving way possible by accepting poems as payment for coffee or tea.

Simply write an original poem and receive a free cuppa! Customers may also bring their previously published poems (in books or magazines) to receive a free drink.

The collected poems will subsequently be published on the bakery cafe's Facebook page and the writer of the most "liked" original poem (with inputs from chosen judges) will receive dinner for two at Kamuning Bakery Cafe.

Kamuning Bakery Cafe itself is owned by a writer, Wilson Lee Flores.

The organizers of the event hope to encourage the love for poetry as well as help bring the literary form into public spaces. The celebration also seeks to promote more poetry readings and encourage the publication of more poetry books. — AT, GMA News
