The ‘Star Trek Beyond’ second trailer adds more details to the action
The first trailer had fans worried that "Star Trek Beyond" would be a generic space action flick, but with the release of an extended trailer on Friday (May 21), Trekkies might not be cringing (too hard) anymore.
The Guardian found 13 things to be excited about the film, while Rolling Stones called it gripping. Fans of The Original Series (TOS) might still find that it has too many explosions and not enough exploration—but there's a glimpse of ideology versus ideology, so there's hope yet.
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Karl Urban are back as Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, and Dr. McCoy joined by new species, like Jaylah (played by Sofia Boutella) and Krall (played by Idris Elba).
More excitement was generated by the release of a new poster, which paid tribute to "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" from 1979.
