Pia Wurtzbach goes to Ecuador to help earthquake victims

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach went to Ecuador over the weekend to help victims of the recent earthquake, a report on Unang Balita on Monday said.

Pia flew in in her capacity as representative of the Miss Universe Organization.

The beauty queen spent her days in Guayaquil and Machala, overseeing a relief effort by Red Cross and joining the “Casita De Mis Suenos” fundraiser for benefit of the Ecuadorian children.

Pia also appealed for the public's continued support for the relief efforts for earthquake victims.

“We still need your help. Hundreds of people lost their lives and thousands more are suffering now. Yes, emergency relief is always first priority but I hope we can continue efforts in REBUILDING. Just because it's not all over the news doesn't mean that the suffering is over,” according to Pia.

She added, “ I myself have volunteered back in the Philippines numerous times and on site. So I know the impact of a calamity like this to the people. If you can, please take some time to visit the Red Cross website to donate. A little will go a long way!”

Ecuador was hit by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake on April 16.

Meanwhile, the beauty queen also joined the Machala parade wherein she thanked all those who supported her.
