Original Philippine Music (OPM) legend Roberto "Snaffu" Rigor, aged 69, has passed away due to complications from lung cancer, his daughter Gypsy said in a report on "Balitanghali" on Friday.

Known as the Father of Soul Music in the Philippines, Rigor was lauded for his talent in composing songs.

His famous tracks include "Bato Sa Buhangin," "Superstar Ng Buhay Ko," and "Macho Gwapito."

Rigor had been a member of the band 70's Superband with Nonoy Tan, Rey Magtoto, Monet Gaskell, Mon Espia and brothers Nitoy and Jun Mallilin.

Prior to his death, the band conducted fund-raising performances for Rigor.

He will be buried on Sunday.

On Monday, the 70's Superband will perform a tribute to celebrate what would have been his 70th birthday. — Jessica Bartolome/VVP, GMA News
