Sheron Dayoc's ‘The Crescent Rising’ wins at Busan International Film Festival 2016

Sheron Dayoc's documentary "The Crescent Rising" bagged the BIFF Mecenat Award at the 21st Busan International Film Festival. 

The BIFF Mecenat Award is granted to the best documentary picture from Korean and Asian documentary films in the Wide Angle section.

"The Crescent Rising" premiered at the 2015 QCinema International Festival, where it bested four other films to win Best Documentary. It went on to win the Gawad Urian award in the same category.

"The Crescent Rising" follows three stories from Mindanao—a man who denies that the Jabidah Massacre is a lie, rebel fighters who believe that jihad should be a way of life, and a woman caught in the conflict. — AT, GMA News
