The top five candidates at the Miss Grand International 2016 were dealt a polarizing question for the final portion of the pageant in Las Vegas, Tuesday night (Wednesday in Manila).

Each beauty queen was tasked to choose between US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton for help in stopping war and violence, which is the main thrust of Miss Grand International.

Miss USA drew loud boos from the crowds for picking Trump and similarly, the Philippines' bet Nicole Cordoves was also loudly heckled.

Cordoves said that she would choose to ask Trump for help, explaining that if he switches side, there would be less fighting.

"What if we actually use his voice to do good?" the beauty queen said, in the face of jeers. "Let Donald Trump switch to our side to stop the war and violence."

Puerto Rico, Thailand, and Indonesia chose Clinton and gave her high praise for advancing women's rights. —AT/ALG, GMA News
