Ecuador's Espin wins Miss Earth 2016; Schweighart bows out early

Miss Ecuador Katherine Elizabeth Espin was crowned Miss Earth 2016 during Saturday's coronation night at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Meanwhile, Brazil's Bruna Custodio Zanardo was crowned Miss Fire, Miss Colombia Michelle Alejandra Gome was Miss Air, and Venezuela's Stephanie Ysabel De Zorzi Landaeta was Miss Water.

The Philippines' Imelda Schweighart was unfortunately unable to enter the top 16.  Another Filipina bet, Sweden's Cloie Syquia Skarne, made it into the top 16 but did not progress further. — DVM/BM, GMA News
