Arnold Vegafria gets Miss World PHL franchise after Cory Quirino lets go

Arnold Vegafria, a celebrity coach and owner of talent management company ALV Talent circuit, has been granted exclusive license for the Miss World pageant in the Philippines, taking over for Cory Quirino.

In an Instagram post on Sunday featuring a photo with Julia Morley, chairwoman of the Miss World Organization, Arnold expressed his gratitude for being the new Miss World and Mr. World Philippines licensee.

"I am very happy to have been awarded the exclusive license for the Miss World and Mr. World Pageants in the Philippines. Thank you Julia Morley and Steve Douglas for your trust and confidence!" Arnold said.

He also assures that he will continue and live up to the prestige and honor of the Miss World Organization. "We will forward to discovering and mentoring a new breed of Filipina beauties who, just like Miss World 2013 Megan Young, will perpetuate the noble legacy of Miss World Organization's guiding principle, 'Beauty with a purpose,'" he added.

Miss World Philippines had been managed by Quirino, a wellness guru, columnist, and granddaughter of former president Elpidio Quirino for six years. It was under her direction that the Philippines took home the first Miss World Crown when Megan Young won in 2013.

She  thanked everyone who supported her through the years as Miss World Philippines chairperson in her Instagram.

"Letting go can be one daunting challenge. Thank you friends for believing in me throughout my journey in Miss World Philippines. It was all done for love of country. And I am ever grateful to you all. Farewell to the red crown." she said. —Marlly Rome C. Bondoc/JST, GMA News
