Celebrities join the #WomensMarch
Several celebrities joined the Women's March on Saturday—less than 48 hours after Donald Trump's inauguration as the 45th President of the United States—to call for action for unity and equal rights.
Celebrities joined an estimated 500,000 participants to "fight for the good."
“Good did not win this election. But good will win in the end,” said singer Madonna, who are among the event's performers.
Actress America Ferrera also took the platform and said, “The president is not America. His cabinet is not America. Congress is not America. We are America. And we are here to stay. We march today for our families and our futures, for the causes we claim and the causes that claim us . . . We are gathered here, and across the country and around the world to say, ‘Mr. Trump, we refuse.’”
Other celebrities spotted in the Women's March are Chrissy Teigen, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sir Ian McKellen, Alicia Keys, Scarlett Johansson, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Emma Watson, Kesha, Amy Schumer, and many more.
The protests saw activists, advocates, leaders, and artists take the streets with signs, banners, and a strong resistance to “racism, fraud, conflict of interest, transphobia, white supremacy, misogyny, white privilege,” said actress Ahley Judd. — AT, GMA News
