Ashley Graham talks about Miss Canada’s body-positive message

Miss Universe Backstage host Ashley Graham is among the attendees at the red carpet event at SMX on Sunday evening.

During the event, reporters asked Graham for comments regarding Miss Canada Sierra Bearchell's body-positive message that went viral online.

"While I am first to say I am not as lean as I was when I was 16, 20, or even last year, but I am more confident, capable, wise, humble and passionate than ever before," Bearchell wrote on a Facebook post.

Graham pointed out that it was her "hope and dream" for women of all shapes and sizes to have brimming confidence to compete on pageants without anyone making snide remarks.

"She's a size 6, that's co crazy to say," Graham said.

She added, "My hope and my dream is that women of all shapes and all sizes and clearly we have so many different ethnicity that are in Miss Universe right now are able to compete and able to win and not have anybody have to talk about their weight because that is the most ridiculous thing."

Similar to Miss Canada, Graham is also a vocal advocate of body-positivity and promotes "beauty beyond size." Her proportions were featured by Mattel, creating the first ever Barbie doll with no thigh gap.

Ashley will be the backstage host at the Miss Universe grant coronation event at the Mall of Asia Area at 8 a.m. on January 30. —report from Bianca Rose Dabu/Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/ALG, GMA News
