Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach’s final message is filled with gratitude

There are no goodbyes in Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach's final message, just thank yous and a great big hello to the next chapter of her life.

Dressed in her signature blue, Wurtzbach took her final walk as the reigning Miss Universe. On Sunday night at the Red Carpet event, Wurtzbach said that she overcame the sadness of parting with the crown when she realized that all of her happiest memories are in the Philippines.

The joy reflected in her message, which started off succinctly. After acknowledging the tremendous opportunities that opened to her because of her title, Wurtzbach gave full credit to her mother for her success.

Wurtzbach also gave a shout to her sister and her fans—people who have supported her even before she became Miss Universe.

On Monday, Wurtzbach crowned Miss France Iris Mittenaere Miss Universe at the Mall of Asia Arena after doing her final walk.

Miss Universe has offered me tremendous opportunities to draw attention to the issues close to my heart, such as bullying and HIV/AIDS awareness.

On top of my thank you list is my mother. I am the woman I am because of the woman you are.

To my sister Sarah, you are my rock.

Paula, Ester, Shaun, and the rest of the MUO team, you are family to me.

To my Miss Universe sisters, I'll see you soon.

To the Worldwide Pianatics, salamat!

To the next Miss Universe, fasten your seat belt. At the end of your reign, you will have grown in confidence, maturity, and faith.

For me the title was a dream come true, but the work continues.

Kababayan maraming, salamat po. Mahal ko kayo. Thank you for everything.
