After '101 percent' effort, Maxine tells critics: Let's all move on
With the spotlight on her as the hometown bet in the Miss Universe pageant's return to the Philippines, Maxine Medina has been under a microscope for most of the competition.
The beauty queen said she has no regrets about her performance, saying she did the best she could.
"Happy na ako at least top six and na-represent ko ang Philippines nang maganda and with my full performance. 101 percent naibigay ko na," she said in an interview on "24 Oras" on Monday.
Medina became the first Filipino beauty queen to make use of an interpreter in the competition. But while the question was translated for her, she still chose to answer her question in English.
That led to some criticism by people who felt that she should have used an interpreter for her answer. Medina did not make the top three, leaving her short of her goal of back-to-back Miss Universe titles for the Philippines after Pia Wurtzbach.
Medina acknowledged that it was nearly impossible to win two straight universe titles, which was why she was not disappointed by her finish.
She also has a cheery response to critics: "It's done, let's all move on." —JST, GMA News
