Katarina Rodriguez launches #peaceISpossible with NDFP in Netherlands
Beauty queens and "world peace" have gone hand-in-hand since the inception of pageants, and Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental Katarina Rodriguez this week continued to carry that message.
Rodriguez this week flew to The Netherlands and joined her grandfather Jack to meet with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) for the fifth round of peace talks.
The pair assumed the role of observers, especially "for the social and economic reforms agenda."
The NDFP International Information Office additionally reported that the beauty queen "adds peace as one of her advocacy and wishes to spread the message of peace with the youth through social media and the hashtag #peaceISpossible."
"Peace doesn't happen just by signing the dotted lines. That's only the beginning. And from there, we should all be tenacious in achieving peace, because that's what Filipinos deserve," the NDFP International Information Office quoted her saying.
The beauty queen was also set to share a "message of peace" at the meeting, but the fifth round of talks was cancelled.
Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza announced Monday that a lack of an "enabling environment conducive to peace negotiations" affirmed their earlier decision to withdraw from the fifth round of talks. —ALG, GMA News
