Bridal car-abao? Last Sunday, "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" told the story of wedding in Paquibato, Davao del Sur that couldn't be dragged through the mud and couldn't be dampened by rain — with the help of the resilient carabao.

Elementary school teacher Jovelyn Veron confessed that she was on the verge of breaking down when the rain wouldn't let up on her wedding day. The church is 200 meters away and she didn't want to arrive at the altar with mud all over the gown she rented.

The wedding, set on July 15, was already a reschedule.

Jovelyn would have already been married to her neighbor, Ronald Del Rosario, had it not been for heavy rains on July 1.

Determined to finally tie the knot, Jonelyn borrowed a carabao from her neighbor. A wooden cart was decorated and attached to the bovine, allowing Jovelyn to safely travel through the mud.

"First time ko pong nakasakay ng kalabaw, hanggang sa pag-uwi ko...sa kasal ko na po nakasakay ako ng kalabaw po," Jovelyn shared.

For Ronald, what mattered most was that they're now starting their life together.

"Kontento naman ako kahit ano pang sasakyan. Ang mahalaga 'yong kasal namin matutuloy. Kasi 'yong sakramentong aming tinatanggap, 'yon ang mahalaga sa amin, hindi 'yong sasakyan," he said.

There was figurative mud on the way to the altar, too — Jovelyn had already been jilted twice.

At 21, she got pregnant and was left by the father of the child. She summoned the courage to love again, but history repeated itself.

Jovelyn got pregnant again and was set to marry the father, but luck wasn't on her side.

"Muntik na naman akong ikinasal, namanhikan na po sila... kaso may ibang babae po," she said. "Iniisip ko na po hindi na po ako magkasintahan kasi nga po dalawang beses[na]akong naging sawi sa pag-ibig."

But "love thy neighbor" rang true and Ronald entered her life. He would ferry her on his bike from her house to the school where she worked and he began courting her.

Before committing to Jovelyn, Ronald was a hothead and a drunkard. But because of the power of love, he shaped up.

He's now taking his job as a corn farmer seriously and is excited to welcome a new addition to his family with Jovelyn. — AT/LA/KVD, GMA News
