Designer looks past ‘gown leak,’ confident in Miss Universe bet Rachel Peters

The early revelation of Rachel Peters' evening gown for the Miss Universe coronation night will not have an impact on the beauty queen's chances of taking home the crown.

The gown's designer, Val Taguba, clarified in a Balitanghali report on Saturday that the piece that went viral online is only one of the several gowns that Peters brought for the coronation night in Las Vegas on Sunday (Monday in Manila).

"She brought like five gowns actually na siyempre, it's much better na doon na siya mag-decide kung which one to wear on what night," the designer said.

"Sexy, siyempre, 'yung ma-highlight 'yung mga best assets niya," Taguba added, describing the gowns brought by Peters in Las Vegas.

Taguba, who was admittedly dismayed over the undue exposure of the gown design, said he also understands the person responsible for the gown's leak.

Peters' designer-of-choice returned to the Philippines two years ago after being based in Dubai for 30 years.

Peters has shrugged off the evening gown's leak. She said she had learned a valuable lesson about trust and she would never let anybody drag her down.

"At the end of the day it's not about the dress you wear, how you walk or even the element of surprise. What's important is that you are kind and true to yourself... that's when a girl truly shines!" Peters said in a statement on Instagram.
