Winwyn Marquez proud to be part of ‘palaban’ batch of Miss World queens
The queens of Miss World Philippines 2017 are no less than history-makers.
"Hindi madaling manalo ... I just have to say, people are saying 'major' or 'minor' pageants ... but it's all the same. Kahit sabihin mong konti or marami [ang candidates]. I salute my fellow beauty queens, whatever pageant they join," Teresita told the press on Thursday.
Three new crowns were introduced for Miss World in 2017 and the women who wore them all went on to win on the international stage. Sophia Senoron is the first ever Miss Multinational queen, while Thia Thomalla brought home the Miss ECO International title to the Philippines for the first time.
Being the first to compete, however, it was Kapuso star Teresita Ssen "Winwyn" Marquez's journey that had pageant fans hooked.
Not only was she the first to represent the Philippines from the batch, she was also the first Filipina to enter Reina Hispanoamericana — and she was up against powerhouse Latin American countries.
Even though some people considered the pageant she joined "minor", Teresita said she's proud to stand with her sisters.

Teresita described her Sophia, Thia, and Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann as "palaban" and "hindi nagpapatalo", and she additionally praised the three for giving their all to bringing a crown home for the country.
"Commitment ang pagsali sa pageant. Hindi naman laru-laro lang," she stressed.
