Graduates of the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication will gather on October 6 for their 53rd alumni homecoming.

The event's highlight includes a musical tribute to Maryo de los Reyes, who passed away last January. Singer-actress Isabelle de Leon, balladeer Steven Paysu, UP Masscom alumnus Raymond Lauchengco are set to perform in his honor.

De los Reyes, known for critically-acclaimed film gem "Magnifico" and the '80s classic "Bagets", was a beloved professor at the college and was a two-term alumni association president.

Another highlight is the Glory Awards, now on its second year.

Twelve alumni, including GMA Network’s senior vice president and entertainment group head Lilybeth Rasonable and GMA First Vice President for News Grace Dela Peña-Reyes, will receive the prestigious Glory trophies.

Alumni association president Malou Choa-Fagar said in a statement shared with the press that the Glory awards “recall our roots as scholars of the people who are expected to serve and excel with selflessness and honor. By shining the spotlight on our alumni achievers, we hope to share their inspiring lessons with today’s mass communication students and graduates.”

The Glory also enshrines the legacy of Gloria D. Feliciano, the first dean of what was formerly the UP Institute of Mass Communication when it was founded in 1965.

Hosting the event are UP CMC alumni Pia Guanio, Ramon Bautista and Willy Inong (a.k.a. Hillbilly Willy). — AT, GMA News
