Catriona Gray makes it to the Top 20 of Miss Universe 2018

Philippine bet Catriona Gray took a step closer to winning the Miss Universe crown as she successfully moved forward in the Top 20 in Thailand on Monday.

Catriona was the second name to be called from the five candidates selected from Africa and Asia Pacific.

"If you’re going to write a song about experience in miss universe, what would you call it?" Host Steve Harvey asked Catriona.

Recognizing the full support she's received from her kababayans, Catriona said she'll name her song "Raise Your Flag."

The five semi-finalists from Africa and the Asia Pacific are:

  • Philippines
  • South Africa
  • Vietnam
  • Nepal
  • Thailand

The five semi-finalists from Europe are:

  • Poland
  • Belgium
  • Great Britain
  • Hungary
  • Ireland

The selection committee will select five candidates from each continent (Africa and Asia Pacific, The Americas, Europe), and then select five wild cards.

Among the panel judges for the 67th Miss Universe competition are Bui Simon, Michelle McLean, Iman Oubou, Janaye Ingram, Richelle Singson-Michael, Monique Lhuillier, Lili Valletta.

Catriona hopes to be fourth Filipina to be hailed as Miss Universe queen after Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Gloria Diaz (1969) and Margarita Moran (1973).
