Discover the hidden paradise in a former MILF camp
A hidden paradise awaits adventure seekers in Barira town, Maguindanao province, according to Lhar Santiago's report in Balita Pilipinas.
A part of the site used to be the camp of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), which has been converted to a safe and certified "Summer pasyalan."
Kicking off from Cotabato City, the trip takes just an hour before reaching to hidden waterfalls called Bubuludtua falls.
With just a 10-peso entrance fee, one can while away vacation time swimming in the cool mountain waters as well as a waster massage.
The area may have a colorful and interesting history but the residents themselves, particularly the MILF members, serve as visitors' security escorts.
The entrepreneurial venture was possible with efforts by multi-sectoral groups to ensure peace and order is in place.
"Nagkaroon kami ng pag-asa para mamuhay ng maayos," said one MILF security team.
Aside from the Bubuludtua Falls, visitors can also drop by the Ambal River where they can go swimming free of charge.
There are also other tourist attractions lined up for development, including caves.
With these efforts, Mindanao could be more popularly known someday as --- Maganda-now. — BAP, GMA News
