Cebuana beauty queen takes oath as lawyer

It was indeed a long journey for Karla Bautista-Siao that brought her to the steps of the Philippine International Convention Center to take her oath on Thursday as one of 1,800 new members of the Philippine Bar.

She told GMA News Online that she started law school in 2013 at the University of San Carlos Cebu.

"I had to stop mid sem in 2016 because I had a delicate pregnancy with my second child," she said.

Law school, however, came after several stints in beauty pageants where she also excelled.

Bautista-Siao joined Miss Cebu in 2003, then Binibining Pilipinas in 2004 and took the Binibining Pilipinas world title.

In the same year, she represented the country in the Miss World beauty pageant that was held in Sanya, China where she finished among the Top 5 and also earned the title Miss World 2004 Queen of Asia and Oceana.

On Thursday, currently 8 months pregnant now with her their baby, she was accompanied by her husband, Merrick, and took her oath as a lawyer.

Karla is currently helping in the family business, managing a chain of Spas.

"I am hoping i could work in the public sector but after i give birth na," she said. — BAP, GMA News
