Renowned fashion designer Eddie Baddeo passed away on Friday, August 16, at the age of 57.

In a phone interview with GMA News, Baddeo's partner, Edgar Medina, said Baddeo died at 1:40 a.m., days after she was brought to the Lung Center of the Philippines on August 5 due to difficulty in breathing.

Baddeo was diagnosed with colon cancer back in 2016. The day she died was actually the same day she was supposed to celebrate her 33rd year in the fashion industry, said Medina.

"Parang hinintay lamang niya ang kanyang anibersaryung ito...ika tatlumpu't tatlong taong anibersaryo din ng pagkakatatag ng kanyang shop sa West Ave., Quezon City," Medina said.

Aside from being a successful individual in the fashion industry, Baddeo was also one of the whistleblowers who called out businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles on her involvement in the pork barrel scam, for which she was convicted of plunder.

Baddeo's remains are currently at the Arlington Memorial Homes in Araneta Avenue, Quezon City.

According to Medina, before the cremation ceremony on August 20, a mini fashion show will be held on the last day of the wake showcasing the works of the late designer. —Kaela Malig/KBK, GMA News
