Binibining Pilipinas 2020 postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19 pandemic

Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) announced on Monday that they will be postponing this year's pageant indefinitely due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

"BPCI supports the government's quarantine restrictions and efforts to curb the further spread of COVID-19 which has now become a global pandemic," they wrote in a statement.

They said they recognize the "pressing and urgent need to protect the health and safety of the candidates, their families and friends, all the passionate pageant supporters, and the general public."

The rescheduling of pageant activities will depend on the "guidelines and regulations that will be issued by the government in the coming months," they added.

Despite this, BPCI assured that they still intend to hold the pageant "as soon as the situation permits when the threat of transmission and infection is at its minimum."

As early as February, the Binibining Pilipinas pageant had already introduced the candidates who will be vying for five crowns: Globe, Supranational, Intercontinental, Grand International, and International.
