Today x Future in Cubao is permanently closing
After over a decade, Today x Future is permanently closing its doors.
The restaurant and bar announced the sad news of its closure on social media.
Today x Future was supposed to mark its 12th year in business this year, if not for the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the country's economy.
"This isn't a statement about sorrow and regrets and wishing things would have been different. This is a love letter — a love letter to all of you who have kept our Future shining bright for over a decade," it said.
"We don't know what the future holds but we hold on to all the unforgettable memories. We'll always remember them fondly, from the loud, endless singalongs and sardinas sayawan to the quiet moments when we realize how much we all mean to each other," it added.
Prior to the sad announcement, the TxF mounted initiatives such as "Save our Future" to sustain operations amid the lockdowns which started in March.
In the announcement, TxF also thanked those who sent in donations and messages in the past three months, saying that they kept them afloat through these trying times.
Some good news: its sister bar in Poblacion, Futur:st, will remain open "as long as we can keep it that way," it said.
Today x Future owners will also be throwing "one last hurrah" for the popular bar on June 27, alongside its online Pride celebration.
"What is coming is better than what is gone. Who knows? Perhaps we'll see you again in the near future," they said.
Today x Future is the latest among many establishments that have been forced to permanently close amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
