Common Room branch in Katipunan permanently shuts down amid pandemic

It's an end of an era as the Common Room branch in Katipunan gives its final farewell.

The retail store, which showcases artists and makers' works, announced in a Facebook post on Friday that it will be closing its Katipunan branch permanently on its fifth anniversary.

"It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Common Room’s first home in Katipunan," it said.

"Exactly 5 years ago today, we opened its doors for the first time to you," it added. "We sincerely believe, though, that the best way to celebrate its anniversary is to ensure that the community survives this pandemic, even if it meant saying goodbye to the home that paved the way for our other homes."

The store further shared that the branch will always have a special place in their hearts.

"Its opening made our community possible and its closing ensured our community continues to exist," it said.

Common Room was a known landmark in Katipunan since students from nearby universities and high schools would frequent the store for its artworks and gifts.

Although its Katipunan branch has closed, Common Room is still operating in its Alabang Town Center, Powerplant Mall and Ayala Malls Manila Bay branches.
