Great Big Story closes down after 5 years

Great Big Story has announced that it is closing down.

"It's been a hard few days. After five incredible years, we're sad to say that we're closing the doors of Great Big Story," it said in a Facebook post.

The media company did not cite a reason for its closure, but it follows the many companies and establishments that closed its doors amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The team behind it had a moving final message for its 6.3 million followers on Facebook.

"To our subjects, thank you for letting us tell your stories, it was privilege. To our audience, we hope we made you proud. This is the close of one chapter, but this isn't goodbye. More than anything, we hope that we sparked your inner storyteller and made you feel a little bit closer to your neighbors all around the world," it said.

"We all have a Great Big Story, now go tell yours," it added.

Great Big Story is an Emmy and Cannes Lions-winning global video company that produced cinematic documentaries from all around the world.

Its content revolve around true stories about travel and culture, among others. It was founded in 2015. —JCB, GMA News
