Miss Universe Philippines candidate Billie Hakenson says she didn’t come out: ‘I simply reiterated my truth’

Miss Universe Philippines candidate Kimberly “Billie” Hakenson has clarified that she did not come out as bisexual, saying she was merely stating a fact.

“I did not come out. I certainly did not come out on the Miss Universe Philippines stage. I simply reiterated my truth,” shared the candidate representing Cavite on her social media accounts Friday.

“I am bisexual. While who I love, and have loved, does not define the core of my being, I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community,” she added.

Billie said her “journey is dedicated to every single person who has been pigeonholed, discriminated, or dehumanized for their gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation.”

She added: “May we no longer be silenced by fear, but empowered by our truth and the support of our allies.”

In a closed door interview for Miss Universe Philippines 2020, a video of which was uploaded on Monday, Billie introduced herself as a candidate and a bisexual.

“I’m Billie Hakenson, representing Cavite and I’m a bixesual and I’m proud to be here,” she said. – RC, GMA News
