Tribu Iliganon to compete in Sinulog festival in Cebu City

Iligan City - The Tribu Iliganon of this city will participate in the grand Sinulog festival in Cebu City on Sunday, officials said Thursday. The contingent will leave for Cebu City Thursday evening. According to barangay captain Glenn Quijoy, the Iliganon contingent will be composed of more than 250 young male and female dancers trained by a Barry Luchie of Cebu City. The group was duly funded by the barangay and city government. Quijoy said that the Tribu Iliganon placed second during the Sinulog 2005 but placed third in 2006 in the free interpretation category. Gina Macapayag Cruz, wife of Mayor Lawrence Lluch Cruz will dance with the image of Senior Sto Niño. Mayor Cruz said the Tribu Iliganon's participation in Sinulog festival 2008 is part of Iligan City's bid to promote tourism.- GMANews.TV
