Ysabel Ortega’s audition for Jamie Robinson in ‘Voltes V: Legacy’

Ysabel Ortega is Jamie Robinson in GMA Network’s highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of the hit Japanese anime series “Voltes V: Legacy.”

In a video released on Wednesday, the network shared the actress’ audition which landed her the role.

In the video, Ysabel is shown begging the team’s leader Steve Armstrong to allow her to leave a mission because of her dad’s condition.

“Steve, si daddy nasa medical bay. He’s seriously here for the Boazanian attack. I have to go back. Please pabayaan mo na ‘ko,” she said.

Not allowed to do so, the actress composed herself and called on her father to fight and stay alive.

“Dad, please lumaban ka, Dad. Walang Robinson na hindi matapang kaya please I want you to fight for your life. Dad, please, lumaban ka for me,” Ysabel as Jamie said while crying.

At the final callback, the actress burst into tears when she heard the news that she got the role.

According to the show’s director, Mark Reyes, Ysabel already had his vote halfway through her audition.

“We're all here today kasi you didn’t do well in the auditions. You did very well. Congratulations! You are now Jamie Robinson of Voltes V,” he announced.

Senior Program Manager Helen Rose Sese added that she was amazed by Ysabel’s performance in “The Gift” so she really believed in her even though she was a “newbie.”

Landing the character, the director reminded the Kapuso actress that the show is “multi-generational” so she has to do her “responsibility” well.

Jamie is the ninja pilot of the Volt Lander, which transforms into Voltes V’s feet.

Ysabel’s role to be the only girl member of the Voltes V was revealed to the public in Wednesday’s episode of “24 Oras” together with Miguel Tan Felix who plays Steve.

Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, and Raphael Landicho, meanwhile, will play the roles of Mark, Big Bert, and Little Jon, respectively.

The show’s premiere date is yet to be announced. The live action series has been licensed by Japan’s own Toei Company, Ltd. through its Philippine-licensor Telesuccess Productions, Inc. -NB, GMA News
