R. Lapid’s Chicharon & Barbecue founder passes away

Rey C. Lapid, the founder of the famous R. Lapid’s Chicharon & Barbecue, has passed away.

The sad news was shared on the business’ Facebook page on Wednesday.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Rey C. Lapid - Founder of R. Lapid's Chicharon & Barbecue,” the caption read.

“A loving husband and father, a great mentor and inspiration. His legacy will live forever in our hearts,” it added.

According to the post, Lapid’s family is requesting for remembrances to be made in the form of donations to R. Lapid’s employees and his chosen charity.

Launched in 1974, R. Lapid’s is one of the largest manufacturers of chicharon in the Philippines. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
