Chow Chow dressed as officer brings smiles to netizens in this Manila checkpoint

This Chow Chow dressed as a police officer is bringing smiles to netizens passing by a checkpoint in Sampaloc, Manila.

According to Oscar Oida’s “24 Oras” report, Monday, Puppy Officer 1 (PO1) Fabio dresses in various outfits, including Type C and field service uniforms.

Patrolwoman Mary Ann Hernandez, Fabio’s fur parent who is a police officer, said she started to do this when they entered a competition this year.

“We joined the National Dog Day 2021. The outfit should be creative, so I thought of making him a front liner," she said in a mix of English and Filipino.

Apart from owning the look, PO1 Fabio also makes sure that his attitude aligns with his outfits.

“He’s one obedient dog who follows easily, unlike other dogs who are very naughty. It’s easy to give him instructions, he doesn’t run after people, and doesn’t bite,” Mary Ann said.

Although he really can’t inspect in the checkpoint, Fabio is able to do his job by giving smiles to not just the netizens, but also to the officials with him.

“Our area is animal-friendly. This dog isn’t usually seen with us at work. When we’re hot-headed or there’s a slight disturbance, it goes away. It becomes happiness,” P/LT. Jherico Pascual said in English and Filipino.

As of writing, PO1 Fabio’s photos shared to GMA News has garnered over 1,700 likes, 254 shares, and 129 comments from the public who can’t help but say “aww.”

“It’s overwhelming because we just let him join the event then he went viral,” Mary Ann said.

“We plan to dress him as a superhero,” she added. “Usually, we like to see him in a polo because he looks good when he’s wearing formal clothes.”
