Bullied for her 'missing' eyebrows, street food vendor gets makeover from the 'Kilay King'

Having to touch up your faded brows everyday can be a stressful thing.

Fortunately, there's a special tattoo technique called "microblading" where an aesthetician uses a thin needle to make hair-like strokes that make your brows seem fuller than they really are.

In an episode of "Dapat Alam Mo," a street food vendor named Jeremy got emotional while talking about how she gets constantly bullied for her "missing kilay."

She puts in a lot of effort to make them fuller via different methods, but none of them seems to work.

And so, she sought help from permanent makeup expert, Edwin Lisa, who was among the first to introduce microblading in the Philippines.

The so-called "Kilay King" explained how the entire procedure goes, from cleaning the brow area, injecting it with anesthesia and taking precise measurements of the face to make sure the brows are applied perfectly.

Lisa also emphasized that eyebrows serve a special purpose other than keeping sweat and dirt away from your eyes.

"Kasi kapag ang tao ay walang kilay hindi mo makikilala. May mata ka. May ilong ka may bibig ka, kapag wala kang kilay hindi ka nila ma-identify na ikaw 'yan," Lisa explained.

"'Yan kasi ang mga frame ng mata, pag wala kang frame, walang buhay ang mata mo," he added.

After two hours, Jeremy's eyebrows went from "barely there" to "pak na pak."

"Magiging confident na 'ko. Taas-kilay na kong makakaharap sa tao," she said. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
