Kryz Uy and Slater Young’s glass ’Skypod’ survives Odette; the couple shares updates about situation in Cebu

Kryz Uy and Slater Young shared some heartbreaking updates from Cebu after typhoon Odette cut a deadly swathe across Visayas and Mindanao.

In a vlog posted on December 20, the Skyfam informed viewers that their famous "Skypod" situated in the mountains survived the storm and that the family, including their young son Scottie, was alright.

The glass-paneled luxury cabin, which has been pegged as a "dream home" by fans, was able to withstand the brunt of the strong winds, but a portion of the house was flooded and a large branch had fallen onto the structure.

"Our house, it survived but it was so scary that night, guys," Kryz shared.

"Slater and I were hiding in my closet because it was the only place where there [wasn't] any glass... And Slater wouldn't allow me to go out even to check because our room, which is like three walls of glass, was literally shaking."

Kryz, who was pregnant on her third trimester, said Slater at one point lent her some earmuffs to ease her anxiety.

Scottie, on the other hand, was safe with his yaya in his room, which Kryz said was made of solid walls except for a small window.

'It's a war zone'

Kryz said her sister's three-story house was "completely wrecked" with parts of the roof torn off.

She also said Slater's company warehouse had been "looted," and that many of his workers lost their homes.

"There's so many people affected," Kryz said.

"Slater's warehouse at Liteblock has been looted. His employees, he opened up his plants so they can stay there because a lot of them don't have homes anymore... It's really bad, guys."

The couple also shared clips from the drive to her sister's home, which showed the roads scattered with broken tree branches and fallen posts.

"I was just telling Kryz that we are super lucky that we are the ones trying to help out instead of being helped," Slater said.

Kryz added she was "so thankful because a lot of our friends are actually super concerned about us because, syempre, we live in a glass house."

"Hindi kami makasagot," she explained. "Walang signal, there's no power, there's no water, there's nothing. It's a war zone."

Cebu was among the provinces in Visayas and Mindanao that bore the brunt of Typhoon Odette, which has left more than 1.8 million people and 375 people dead as of Monday.
