Bohol family recalls ordeal during Typhoon Odette: ‘Nasa isip namin wala na kami talaga, mamamatay na kami’
A family in Bohol recalled their harrowing experience during the recent onslaught of Typhoon Odette.
As reported on “24 Oras” Thursday, Wilbert Tero and his family took refuge under a table after their house in President Carlos P. Garcia town was flattened by the typhoon.
“Kahit sira na ito ma’am hindi kami umaalis kasi wala naman kaming ibang matutuluyan eh,” he said.
Wilbert recalled that after they temporarily evacuated to another place, the metal sheet that covered it was soon carried away by the strong winds.
“Nasa isip na namin na wala na kami talaga. Mamamatay na kami. Sobrang basang-basa kami, nakatago lang kami sa ilalim ng mesa,” he said.
The family has since been living in a makeshift structure made of sawali or bamboo strips.
Wilbert and his family members were among the beneficiaries who received relief packages from GMA Kapuso Foundation.
Under its Operation Bayanihan project, the foundation has distributed food packs and other essential items to 20,000 residents in 8 municipalities in Bohol. It is also continuously bringing aid to other areas affected by Typhoon Odette.
