Tricycle driver struggling to make ends meet for his family gets aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation
A tricycle driver in Cavinti, Laguna, who tirelessly works for his family has received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to a “24 Oras” report, Thursday, Joel Magano starts work at 6 a.m., not minding the numbness in his hands due to exhaustion.
Despite the long hours at work, his earnings just weren’t enough for his family’s expenses.
His income has been reduced since the pandemic began. On some days, even after working for 12 hours, he gets to bring home only PHP100, which was just enough for their meals consisting of rice with soy sauce, salt, or chips.
Motivated to give a comfortable life to his family, Joel said he would continue to do his best despite the challenges that may come their way.
“Ayoko po kasing nakikita ’yung anak ko saka po ’yung pamilya ko na walang kakainin. Gusto ko po kasi maka-ipon,” he said.
[I don’t want to see my child and my family hungry. I want to save money.]
“Hangga’t kaya kong maghanapbuhay, hindi ko ipaparanas sa kanila yung naranasan kong hirap.”
[As long as I am able to work, I won’t let them experience the hardships I went through.]
With his selflessness, his wife Melibal Toque couldn’t help but worry for her partner’s health and well-being. According to her, he doesn’t rest even if she tells him to do so.
Concerned for Joel, Melibal reached out to GMA Kapuso Foundation to help their family and give her husband an opportunity to rest and be rewarded for his hard work.
The foundation responded to her request and brought to the family’s home grocery packs, vitamins, hygiene kits, sacks of rice and charcoal, and new clothes.
To those who wish to send help, GMA Kapuso Foundation accepts donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, Mega Mart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
