GMA Kapuso Foundation to rebuild Odette-hit school on Limasawa Island

GMA Kapuso Foundation is set to rebuild a school damaged by Typhoon Odette on Limasawa Island.

According to a “24 Oras” report, Wednesday, because all six schools in the municipality were damaged by the typhoon, students had no place to return to for face-to-face classes.

These include San Bernardo Elementary School, Lugsongan Elementary School, San Agustin Elementary School, Triana Elementary School, Magallanes Elementary School, and Limasawa National High School.

GMA Kapuso Foundation found during its visit that the typhoon left the buildings with torn roofs and walls and wet school supplies.

Despite their situation, Magallanes Elementary School teachers came up with a way to bring education to their students by having them attend in groups of five.

“Ang Magallanes (Elementary School) ay nagawa ng intervention. Nakita namin na hindi talaga conducive to learning ’yung ibang mga bahay,” said principal Flordeliza Dalupere.

To help both teachers and learners, GMA Kapuso Foundation is now in the process of choosing a school to prioritize for rebuilding.

Those who wish to help may send their donations to GMA Kapuso Foundation through Shopee, Lazada, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, PayMaya, Mega Mart, Zalora, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and bank deposits.
