GMA Kapuso Foundation to build 4 classrooms in Odette-hit Siargao with donors’ help
Four classrooms will be built by GMA Kapuso Foundation in Typhoon Odette-hit Siargao with the help of generous donors.
According to a “24 Oras” report on Thursday, teachers and students worried over their face-to-face classes because their classrooms were damaged due to the typhoon.
To help build new classrooms, APEX Mining Co. Inc. donated PHP2 million, while the New Zealand Embassy gave a $25,000 grant to GMA Kapuso Foundation.
“We would like to help in the recovery [and] at the same time, makatulong lalo na do’n sa mga nasalanta ng mga bagyo. Gusto namin ituloy yung ganitong activities with GMA Kapuso Foundation,” said APEX Mining Co. president and CEO Louie Sarmiento.
“When we look to award our grants, we look at the need and then the partner. In the case of this particular project, we saw that the partner was competent and competitive,” said New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines Peter Kell.
The classrooms will be built to withstand an intensity 8 earthquake and rain and winds with a strength of up to 300 kph.
GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
