A 67-year-old grandmother from Ternate, Cavite is asking for help to fix her small sari-sari store and get some medical assistance for her family.

According to a "24 Oras" report on Friday, Editha Festejo's store has become a lifeline for her neighbors in times of need.

"Hindi ako nagmamaramot, ma'am. Kasi may kasabihan God will provide," she said.

"Nakakaawa naman ma'am walang makain. Siyempre 'yung puso ko naman parang hinihiwa," she added.

("I'm not stingy, ma'am. Because there's a saying that God will provide. I take pity on them because they have nothing to eat. It's as if my heart is being sliced open.")

Editha has been struggling to manage the store, however, because the roof leaks when it rains and needs some repairs. She is also unable to lock up her goods, so she has to carry everything inside her home.

She is also in need of a hearing aid, while her husband needs some medication for hypertension and diabetes. Their television also broke down, so they have to borrow a set from a neighbor.

Despite the many things they lack, the couple do not hesitate to help others. They take care of one of their grandchildren and help out their nephews and nieces so they could finish their education.

Editha sent a letter to the GMA Kapuso Foundation to request for aid for her family.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
