Herlene Budol’s Binibining Pilipinas 2022 national costume is inspired by Higantes Festival

There are three days to go before the Binibining Pilipinas 2022 national costumes are revealed, and we’re looking forward to the queens’ looks.

The pageant is already posting some of the costumes on its Instagram page.

Herlene “Hipon Girl” Budol’s national costume is inspired by the Higantes Festival of her hometown Angono, Rizal.

Accessorized with a painted cape and headpiece, the bodysuit is composed of thousands of orange and gold crystals, which symbolize Herlene’s label as “Hipon Girl.”

Celebrated every third Sunday of November, the Higantes Festival is celebrated in honor of St. Clement. Plus, there is a myth that giants once walked over the land of Angono.

Angono is also known as the Art Capital of the Philippines. The Higantes used in the parades are usually made of papier mache, bamboo, and aluminum, and painted in bright colors. – RC, GMA News
