'Hearts on Ice' stars Ina Feleo, Rita Avila, Cheska Iñigo on loving your beach body
"Hearts on Ice" stars Ina Feleo, Rita Avila, and Cheska Iñigo offered their advice for those who may have insecurities about their beach body this summer.
In a GMA media interview, the actresses opened up on their experiences about body image and wearing bikinis.
"Napagdaanan ko in my 20s, in my teens lalo na 'yung parang body dysmorphia, 'yung you see yourself, ang laki ng tiyan ko, ang pangit ng ano ko -- ang pangit, ang pangit," said Ina.
"When I look back, wala naman pa lang problema. It was all in your head, and napagdaanan ko din 'yung overtraining, 'yung talagang super workout, as in gusto ko may abs, ganyan," she added.
Ina said sometimes people no longer enjoy going to the beach and taking pictures because they don't feel confident about their figures.
Now, however, she has become more comfortable in her own skin.
"More bikini body posting kasi talagang feel ko siya e, parang nagagandahan ako sa katawan ko ngayon, ganyan," she said.
She also reminded everyone that what is considered a bikini body changes over time.
"There's no one bikini body, and trend 'yan e. Nung araw nga, ang trend 'yung may mga ano ka talaga, may bilbil, ang pina-painting noon, malaki 'yung tiyan."
"E, ngayon, iba naman 'yung trend so, by next year, iba na naman 'yun so don't just follow the trend," she added. "Try to find what's sexy in you, and then wear whatever bikini you want to wear."
Rita, meanwhile, said what's important is how you feel about your body and not the opinion of other people.
"Kasi kung masaya ka sa suot mo, de masaya ka. Kung proud ka sa mga taba-taba mo, proud ka," she said.
"At 52, nag-bikini ako. May nagalit sa 'kin kaibigan, blinock ako dahil [nagbikini ako],"
Both Ina and Cheska said Rita's friend must have been jealous.
"Proud ako nung time na 'yun. O, ngayon, tumaba ako, ina-accept ako. 'Di ko alam kung ano naitsura ko pag nag two-piece ako ngayon, pero masaya ako. 'Yun 'yung importante," said Rita.
Cheska had similar sentiments about a bikini body.
"Kung gusto mong mag-bikini, mag-bikini ka, basta komfortable kang suotin, do it, wear it. Never mind what social media says, 'di ba? Madaling sabihin, mahirap gawin, aminado ako dun, pero that should be your goal," she said.
"Mahalin mo 'yung sarili mo, 'yun 'yung katawan mo, 'yun ang binigay sa 'yo ng universe, 'yun ang binigay sa 'yo ni God," she added.
Cheska also said society has many false ideas on how a woman should look like.
"Ang ideal kasi natin sa social media, sa TV, payat, sexy, 'di ba? Pero there's something to be said for love handles, there's something to be said for being malaman, for being voluptuous, 'di ba?" she said.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, somebody who says, and knows, and sees you as beautiful, but it should really be you first," she added. "Love yourself. Love your body in any shape or form. You are beautiful."
"Hearts on Ice" also stars Xian Lim and Ashley Ortega. The series airs Monday to Friday at 8:50 p.m. on GMA Telebabad after "Mga Lihim ni Urduja." It's also available on GTV, Pinoy Hits, and the GMA Network website.
