As the newly-crowned beauty queen prepares to represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant later this year in El Salvador, here are five interesting facts about Michelle.

1. She is also Miss World Philippines 2019

Besides being Miss Universe Philippines 2023, Michelle is the Miss World Philippines 2019.

In December 2019, she represented the Philippines in Miss World 2019 in England, finishing in the Top 12.

2. She is an award-winning actress

Michelle is not just a beauty queen but also an award-winning actress. In the 36th PMPC Star Awards for Movies in 2021, Michelle bagged the Best New Movie Actress of the Year.

She recently starred as Freya in GMA primetime series "Mga Lihim ni Urduja."

3. She is the daughter of former beauty queen and actress Melanie Marquez

Being a beauty queen definitely runs in the blood of Michelle! For those who didn't know, she is the daughter of Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez.

Aside from her mom, Michelle is also the cousin of Miss Reina Hispoamericana 2017 Winwyn Marquez.

Ahead of Miss Universe Philippines 2023 coronation night, Melanie sent Michelle words of support and reassured her that she was "doing great."

4. She underwent surgery weeks before MUP 2023 coronation

A few weeks before the coronation night of Miss Universe Philippines 2023, Michelle underwent an operation due to hemorrhage and bleeding during her 28th birthday.

Despite this, Michelle proved her strength by recovering pretty well after her surgery and went back to her beauty queen duties stronger than ever.

5. She has a degree in Psychology and a Harvard certificate for Entrepreneurial Essentials

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from De La Salle University. She also completed a certificate course in Entrepreneurial Essentials at Harvard Business School Online.
