Jessica Soho gives advice to aspiring journalists: 'Dapat tama'

Jessica Soho has some simple yet wise words for those who want to be journalists.

With a 38-year career, the Philippines' most awarded broadcast journalist shared with GMA News Online these pieces of advice for those who want to work in newspapers, TV, or digital publishing.

Noting how journalism practices have changed with the times, Soho said, "I should advocate that every journalist or aspiring journalist should always be mindful of the values of journalism: accuracy, fairness, responsibility."

Soho added that she always tells young journalists these two things: "Keep on reading and it's not about us."

"Also, get it right at dapat tama," she said, citing the slogan she coined for the 2013 Elections and is the advocacy of GMA Network. "Get it right and do it right. Dapat tama."

Soho renewed her contract at the GMA Network Center in Quezon City.

Following her signing, Soho is also thankful for "another chance to tell more stories that will inspire our viewers. It will bring a lot of people together, help people in dire need in the most dire circumstances, and [share] stories that will give them hope and will change their lives."
