Remembering GMA Public Affairs’ Clyde Mercado

GMA Public Affairs Senior Assistant Vice President Clyde Mercado passed away on Monday, August 7.

On Tuesday's "Unang Hirit," host Arnold Clavio paid tribute to his colleague and friend, who was known to the Kapuso network as “Sir Clyde.”

Arnold shared how they first worked together on his show when Sir Clyde became the segment producer for his show, “Emergency.”

"Nuon pa man, nagpamalas na siya na ng husay, tiyaga, at dedikasyon sa trabaho sa GMA News and Public Affairs," Arnold said.

Because of his excellence, dedication, and work ethic, Sir Clyde quickly rose the ranks to become a Senior Assistant Vice President.

Under his leadership, various programs from the network were recognized worldwide, including  “i-Witness,” “Reporter’s Notebook,” “Reel Time,” “Brigada,” “The Atom Araullo Specials,” “Wish Ko Lang,” and “Imbestigador.”

According to Arnold, while Sir Clyde was a very good boss, he was also a brother you can run to at any time and a friend who’s always ready to help.

"Lahat minahal at inalagaan niya," Arnold continued. "Lahat itinuring niya na pamilya."
