Nicole Borromeo is Miss International 2023 3rd runner-up

Nicole Borromeo finished her Miss International 2023 journey as the third runner-up.

During the 61st Miss International pageant, Nicole made it to the first cut, the final 15, and later advanced to the Top 7.

During the question and answer portion of the 61st Miss International pageant, Nicole was asked: "The Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs by the United Nations have targets that are set to be achieved by 2030. What have you done so far in terms of SDGs initiatives?"

In her answer, Nicole talked about her volunteer work with the non-profit organization Habitat for Humanity Philippines.

"As someone who experienced the wrath of natural disasters, home is everything. I've worked tirelessly with Habitat for Humanity under the SDG goals of Number 11: Sustainable cities and communities. It is through this volunteer work that I could see in the faces of the children, how much they wanted to help, how much they wanted to be a part of the future. Because when it comes to sustainability, we must keep in mind that it's not only for the next generation but to include them in the process," Nicole said.

Miss Bolivia was hailed as the fourth runner-up, while Peru's and Columbia's representatives were named second and first runner-up, respectively.

Venezuela's Andrea Rubio took home the Miss International 2023 crown.

Special awards were also given to candidates who stood out in certain portions of the pageant.

The Best National Costume award was given to Miss Angola, while Miss Indonesia got the Best in Evening Gown award.

Miss Zimbabwe received the Miss Fitness Award, and Miss New Zealand got the Photogenic Award.

The Philippines last took home the prestigious crown in 2016, when Kylie Verzosa won the country's sixth title.

During the coronation night, Thursday, Nicole wore a sea urchin-inspired national costume and a glistening gown for her evening gown.
