5 PWDs in Cebu receive new running blades, newfound hope to do more activities
Five individuals with disabilities in Cebu City have not only received new running blades from a Japanese organization but also newfound hope to achieve greater things in life.
According to Alan Domingo’s report on “24 Oras,” Tuesday, five-year-old Sonny John and dragon boat racer Daisy Jane were among the recipients of the new running blades.
Sonny John, born with a defect in his left leg that disables him from walking, and Daisy Jane, born with only one leg, now have the opportunity for enhanced mobility and a brighter future.
“Malaki ang aming pasasalamat. Maraming salamat sa regalo para sa aking anak,” Sonny John’s father, Sonny Baula, said.
“Happy talaga ako kasi for me, it’s a dream come true talaga na makatakbo ako as a PWD since birth,” Daisy Jane said. “Hindi ko talaga na-try tumakbo. Before, bago ako mag-prosthesis, nag-crutches muna ako, like impossible talaga, ang hirap."
Sonny John and Daisy Jane were among the five of the 25 target beneficiaries who were given running blades by a Japanese organization to help them walk, run, and even join new sporting activities.
“I am supporting the para athlete, and I want to see the fastest runner all over the world which is running on our blade,” said Ken Endo, an official from the organization.
