Rabiya Mateo cheers on fellow Ilongga Alexie Brooks Miss Universe Philippines coronation

Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo cheered on fellow Ilongga, Miss Universe Philippines 2024 candidate Alexie Brooks, ahead of coronation night on Wednesday.

On Instagram, Rabiya commended Alexie for her hard work and sacrifice, as well as her amazing team.

She added that she's hoping to see another Ilongga to represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico this year.

"I can’t wait to see you later on the MUPH stage. I’ll be screaming on top of my lungs as I cheer for you," she said. "I know you’re gonna do very well. Praying for another Ilongga to represent the Philippines in Miss Universe

Aside from being a beauty queen, Alexie, who hails from Iloilo, is also a Philippine athlete for track and field. In 2022, she was named the most valuable player by the UAAP, representing National University.

Alexie is among the top five hot picks of beauty pageant website Missosology for Miss Universe Philippines 2024. Ahtisa Manalo of Quezon Province got Missosology's nod for the crown, followed by Christi McGarry of Taguig, Victoria, Victoria Vincent of Bacoor, Alexie, and Tarah Valencia of Baguio.

The Miss Universe Philippines 2024 coronation night is happening on Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the Mall of Asia Arena.
