Chelsea Manalo on her viral crowning moment with Michelle Dee: 'It's so funny, we laughed about it'

Chelsea Manalo is well aware that she's gone viral for her crowning moment with Michelle Dee during the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 coronation night.

In an interview on "Unang Hirit" on Friday, the Bulacan beauty queen couldn't help but laugh when the topic was brought up.

"It's so funny, I can't believe i made it to the memes," she said.

Chelsea then explained what happened from her perspective.

"When Michelle put [the crown] on my head... this has weight, so when she put it on my head, I didn't feel like it's gonna fall," she said. "I felt like it was already sturdy until I had to turn, kaya siya medyo ... kaya [naramdaman ko]."

"But afterwards, Michelle fixed it so we could have that really beautiful picture," she added.

She said that she and Michelle talked about the incident, which has since made the rounds online.

"We laughed about it," Chelsea said. 'I think she was also tense, she was nervous, this was her last night, she wanted to just give her best, to really give that crown to the next Miss Universe Philippines."

"I know that it's funny, we're on a meme now," she added.

Earlier, Michelle poked fun at herself about it, posting on X, "MICHELLE ANO BA."

In a separate Instagram post, Michelle wished Chelsea luck on her Miss Universe journey, and said that she has a "genuine heart."

Chelsea was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2024 during the coronation night held on Wednesday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Aside from Chelsea, four other queens received their crowns: Alexie Brooks of Iloilo as Miss Eco International 2025, Ahtisa Manalo of Quezon Province as Miss Cosmo Philippines 2024, Tarah Valencia of Baguio as Miss Supranational Philippines 2025, and Cyrille Payumo of Pampanga as Miss Charm Philippines 2025. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
