Man in Antipolo receives prosthetic arm through GMA Kapuso Foundation, LN-4 Foundation
Ronald Carida, a man in Antipolo who lost his left hand in 2010, recently received an arm and hand prosthesis through the GMA Kapuso Foundation and LN-4 Foundation.
According to "24 Oras," Wednesday, Ronald lost his left hand when he tried to stop his neighbor from beating up his wife. His neighbor turned on him and stabbed him multiple times, which led to the loss of his hand.
After the loss of his hand, Ronald had difficulty finding a regular job and resorted to selling fruit, trading garbage, and working as a barker to continue providing for his family.
Ronald recently received a free arm and hand prosthesis with the help of GMA Kapuso Foundation and LN-4 Foundation so he could live normally again and do the things he couldn't before, such as drive a motorcycle or ride a bike.
"Marami siyang pwede na hawakan. Makakakain na rin siya gamit 'yung dalawang kamay niya, makakahawak siya ng baso. Pwede rin siya ulit mag-drive ng motor o mag-bisikleta," said Anthony Untalan of LN-4 Foundation.
Aside from getting a free prosthesis, Ronald was also brought to Dr. Emil Santos, a dentist, who performed dental extraction and oral prophylaxis on him.
"Ginawan natin si tatay ng tinatawag nating oral prophylaxis. Binunot natin 'yung nabubulok niyang ngipin and then sinukatan natin si tatay ng pustiso," Dr. Emil said.
GMA Kapuso Foundation also visited Ronald's family in Antipolo to distribute grocery packs.
Amputees in Metro Manila and Occidental Mindoro aged seven and above who wish to receive a free arm and hand prosthesis may contact GMA Kapuso Foundation's official Facebook page and email (gmaf@gmanetwork.com) from July 4 to 12.
In the message, one must narrate how he or she lost their hand or arm. One must also include their name, address, contact number, a whole body picture, and a barangay certificate of indigency.
